American Bar Association Division for Legal Services Information and downloadable materials on access to justice for poor and moderate-income persons. The Division provides an information clearinghouse, technical assistance and other services on legal aid, pro bono, IOLTA, lawyer referral, affordable legal services, prepaid legal services, legal assistance for military personnel, specialization, lawyer advertising and lawyer malpractice.

Brennan Center for Justice News, opinions and links promoting the legacy of the late U.S. Supreme Court Justice William J. Brennan, Jr. Programs devoted to poverty, democracy and justice are an integral part of this organization devoted to promoting equality and human dignity.

DefenseNet The Washington Defender Association is a non-profit organization created in 1983 to promote, assist, and encourage public defense systems which ensure that all accused persons in every court receive effective assistance of counsel.

The Future of Equal Justice Project Website designed for anyone involved in legal services. This site is a clearinghouse of information and contacts to others in the field. This project is a joint venture between the Center for Law and Social Policy and the National Legal Aid & Defender Association.

Grant opportunities: the National Rural Funders Collaborative. Legal service organizations are involved in some of the projects that NRFC is examining.

(posted 2/28/01) The American Bar Association’s Child Custody Pro Bono Project is now accepting proposals for the first-ever Child Custody Pro Bono Mini-grants. Grants will be awarded to pro bono programs, legal service providers, children’s law centers, law-school sponsored legal clinics and other organizations providing pro bono legal services to children in divorce, parentage, adoption and private guardianship cases. Interested entities can review the Mini-grant Guidelines and download the Application from www.abachildcustodyproject.org or by requesting a copy by email from hermank@staff.abanet.org.
